He reaches out - vampiric touch
She pulls away - the pain's too much
He finds her eyes - a crystal fire
Of love and hate - and pure desire
Small fragments drop - from crystal gaze
He pulls her close - and she obeys
Together held - by hand and heart
Together once - then torn apart
They close their eyes - and clearly see
He must release - she must be free
To choose to die - or choose to be
Alone until eternity
She says goodbye - without a word
It matters not - he'd not have heard
Words are empty - as well his soul
But eyes speak loud - and take their toll
Releasing her - he looks away
Heart hid from night - as well as day
She turns his head - until at last
She finds his gaze - and holds it fast
She backs away - into the dark
And fades until - one last red spark
Of crystal light - is all he'll see
Alone until eternity...

Absolutely true! I love that song. Generic beginings, yes, but it's classic tale we all know and love and you molded it well. beautiful and horrible in the same moment; something so wonderful, but something you can't ever have. |

Your typical "vampire meets girl, vampire loves girl, vampire loses girl" love story. The origins of this poem are two-fold. First, it is loosely based on the song "London" by Queensryche, the best vampire love song ever written. And second, somewhere in my travels, I heard the phrase "vampiric touch", and I HAD to use it in a poem!
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it! |
